CANOEING
The Blackwater River State Forest is known as “The
Canoeing Capital of the World.” The inland rivers offer a
peaceful flowing trip with white sands and clear waters.
HORSEBACK RIDING
Horse enthusiasts come from all over the country to visit
the State Park and enjoy 140 miles of safe, enjoyable horse
trails. Because of the ideal footing, scenic views and
relaxing atmosphere, the horse trails are one of the most
popular attractions of the park.
HIKING
Certified as a segment of the Florida National Scenic
Trail, the Juniper Creek Trail runs through the state forest
parallel to Juniper Creek. The trail is particularly
inviting in spring when wild azalea, Florida anise, and
mountain laurel bring beautiful blooms of color. At its
southern end, it meets the Blackwater River.
The terrain, plant communities and wildlife are
highlighted along the park's three nature trails. Also
located in the park is Bear Lake, a 107-acre lake that
offers abundant fishing. White-tailed deer, bobcats and
turkeys are quite common in the park. River otter are seen
occasionally and the graceful Mississippi kite is often
observed soaring overhead in the summer.
